Finally Found These Guys

And people say Shaggy isn’t a good investigator…

The image is a selfie taken by a person with wavy brown hair and a goatee, who is wearing a green t-shirt. Over their shoulder are two people who don’t seem to know their picture is being taken. One is wearing a red overcoat and a wide-brimmed red hat. The other is wearing a horizontally striped red and white shirt, and a red and white beanie. The image is captioned, “I finally found them, and I found them together no less…”

The two people in the background are dressed similarly to Carmen Sandiego from Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? and Waldo from Where’s Waldo?. Carmen Sandiego is a fictional thief in a series of video games from the early 90′s. The player’s goal is to find out where she is and catch her. In the Where’s Waldo? books, each page has an intricate drawing of lots of people in a crowded area, many of them dressed somewhat similarly, and the reader has to find Waldo hidden in the crowd.

The person who took this picture is joking that the people dressed similar to these fictional characters are the characters; that they “finally found them”; and that it’s funny that these two characters from completely different franchises have such fundamentally similar concepts.

The commenter added to the joke by comparing the person who took the photo to Shaggy, a character from Scooby Doo, Where Are you!
