This is actually really good advice so let me elaborate a bit: if you notice the tide is retreating very quickly at a very odd time of day, get as far away from water and as high up as you can. I live along the ocean and a long time ago we had a small tsunami and a relative of mine tells me how her father saw the tides retreating so he just picked her up and just ran, which probably saved their lives.
So yeah DONT LOOK FOR THE MISSING OCEAN just run away

Deep clean your room – I’m talking about stripping the bed, going through clothes, papers, and belongings and having no mercy. Sweeping and damp mopping the floors. Dusting surfaces. Finding new homes for those miscellaneous items that just sit there in the way.
Delete old contacts – I went from having maybe 30-40 contacts to 14. In other words, delete contacts you haven’t messaged or called in the last two weeks to a month (if so long). If they text you don’t be afraid or feel guilty for asking who it is.
Go through your music library – Play all your songs and if you skip a song delete it without hesitation. The next time you hit shuffle on your playlist you won’t even notice it’s gone. What if you get in the mood for the song? That’s what YouTube is for my friend… or just add the song back onto your phone.
Go through clothes – That dress you haven’t worn once in the past year- toss it. The shirt you swear fits if you don’t raise your arms- get rid of it. Those worn out clothes- dump them. *Of course there can be exceptions but within reason.
Journal – Write down any thoughts to cleanse your mind. Any ideas you might have. Good things that happened that day. Bad things that happened. Things you’re grateful for. It helps so much. Try it for at least three days straight and you’ll notice how much better you feel. Problems might not disappear completely but it’ll give you the strength to get through another day.
Don’t try to force things to work out – It’s so hard and it can be upsetting when things don’t, but sometimes the best thing you can do for you is accept the way (some)things are.
Don’t be hard on yourself for messing up – It can be easy to physically or mentally punish yourself for making a mistake no matter how big or small, but I’ve learned that doing things like starving yourself, beating yourself up (literally), or just scolding yourself repeatedly doesn’t improve the situation and it doesn’t improve yourself.
Cut toxic people off – Remove them from your life physically (which sometimes takes time). Unfriend them from social media. Remove prominent traces of them from your life. It’s like suddenly a weight comes off of your shoulders.
Practice self love – I write/say this so often and sometimes I feel like it’s so hard to do sometimes but it’s not. I’m talking about taking a break when you need to. Drinking water. Moisturising your skin. Getting enough sleep. It’s the little things like that that count as self love.
Don’t runaway from your problems – It’s tempting and hard but it’s important to face any problems you’re facing. No one is saying you have to be strong 24/7, only that you should try.
Delete old files – Go through you computer, tablet, phone, USB drive etc. Delete old unimportant documents, old photos, music, apps and more.
it’s such a simple yet hard concept to grasp, right? i’m having loads of trouble starting since there’s no exact tutorial for it, so you’ve gotta broaden your search for the topic.

this book called ‘color and light’ by james gurney i’m borrowing from a coworker has tons of stuff that goes deep within the understanding of color (it’s a LOT to take in, i’ve had this for 3 weeks and i still haven’t finished it)
i have a pretty basic understanding on choosing colors so i usually eyeball it instead from reference photos. but if you’re a beginner you need someplace to start, picking colors off the pics would be good, but don’t rely on it too much. it often leaves your drawings pretty bland since you’re straight up copying from the camera lens.
2) keep things quick and simple
you’re doing a color study, not an environmental study. i’m having trouble with over detailing my pieces but i’m making a conscious effort to stop caring since the main focus here is the colors, their relationship with the surrounding (even the sky has fricking layers i need to properly understand)
3) pick a picture that inspires you!
i usually pick out photos who has a clear contrast on stuff, so you’d wanna work on something that really attracts your eyes. google is a friend, don’t forget that. it’s better to reference of real life photos than fanart, and plus movie still/screencaps are a good place to see how the colors work out together
4) study your fave artist pieces
pick a piece you like the most and study it. what makes it attractive to you? why does this shade of pink go well with this sort of blue? you can color pick the piece and study their pattern in picking colors, some artists are using the same sort of color palette and it makes them stand out. try to find out why and experiment that method on your pieces of artwork.
so these are the only things that i have on my plate right now, and i still have a loooong way to go, lol. hope it helps!

In order to illustrate the human figure, basic understanding of the Human body is the most important. Even if your goal is not the realistic representation of the body it is essential for every artist to at least know the most basic. You may think that there is no need for that because this is not what your current goal is but i believe that every artist, may it be hobby or professional is ever evolving and therefore knowledge of the fundamentals is what everyone should set as starting point. (like, you can’t play a game if you don’t know the rules, does that make any sense???) Once understanding the body, how it works and is constructed there won’t be limits in your ability to depict the human figure in whatever state you want to show it in.

of proportions to achieve the wanted result. Anatomy and Perspective drawing are neither difficult nor boring, as long as there is enough interest in the subject it is surprisingly easy to learn.
Medical level anatomical accuracy is not needed as an artist, as you construct a figure by either measuring your model or through gesture/sketching, of course you need to know about skeletal structure and muscle mass but you won’t need to know all 200+ bones in the human body, their exact function and latin names in order to draw a person.
I don’t think i am in the position to teach anyone anything about anything tho, so just buy an artist’s anatomy book or watch a video about it, you will get there even without my help.
